I Am (Not) Sixteen Going On Seventeen

Taken via Walking Through Carthage

Taken via instagr.am @shaesings

These pictures don't do it justice, but the day of my actual birthday, I was pretty bummed. I won't go into detail or anything, but to put it bluntly: I got my hopes up.

Looking at these pictures, however, make me realize that hey, I'm only seventeen. Life's too short to complain.

*On a side note: I shouldn't complain. Today I saw an old man praying the Lord's prayer without anyone willing to join hands with him. Yet, I didn't have the heart to hold his hand myself as he was in the row in front of me. Kudos to him for still putting his faith in the Lord.

Looking back, I still can't believe how fast the time flew by. Feels like I just turned sixteen. Despite what went wrong that day, I actually had a blast the weekend after. I went to see the Head and the Heart, and even met Bryan John Appleby. If you've followed my blog for a while now, you'd know my absolute favorite song from them is "Rivers and Roads."

I'm only acquiring a bit this time as a haulage but overall I'm content with what I have. And in the meantime, we're saving up for next year, as I'm trying to have a debut. If the Lord answers my prayers, I will.

Look out for the next post, as I will be showing you what exactly I have received/purchased for a birthday haulage.

I hope you all have a nice day.

Keep Watch.

Hello lovelies!

If you've kept up with recent updates on tumblr/instagram/twitter, then you'll know I've just turned 17 this past Thursday. *eyebrow scrunches* That's still so weird to say.

Anyways, I've not taken a picture of my haulage yet because I'm still in the works of getting everything. I have a gift card from Target, as well as Sephora, so once I've put those to use, I'll put everything together to show you all.

In the meantime, thanks for sticking around if you still read my blog. Sorry the updates have been lacking, but I'm sort of a busy bee this school year. I'm hoping to get into a UC.

Just this morning, I had my first behind-the-wheel training. I've never driven before, but my instructor said I did a good job. He said I just need to relax, and in all honesty he thought I'll be a good driver. All because I can control my speed pretty well. I didn't crash into anything, yay! I can do a u-turn adequately on intersections, with traffic lights, but I'm not so good at it on regular side-streets. And I need to work on my parking, out of all things. LOL.

Here's a present I got that I've already demolished:

Well, ciao for now.

Wishlist 2012 | 17th Birthday

Welp, I turn seventeen this Thursday. Not doing anything too fabulous, but I am going to see The Head and the Heart on Friday! I'm so excited I can't handle it. If you're into folk/moody/sentimental music, then they're perfect for you. I can't wait to sing along to "Rivers and Roads" live. My heart aches every time I hear that song.

Anyways, I tried to separate my 'wishlist' and tell specific items to certain people, but after a while I lost track. So it's time to officially post it up somewhere, but also mainly because my friends are asking for it. So here it is! Here's what I want, sixteen going on seventeen. These are in no order whatsoever. Not order of what I want most or anything. Nonetheless, here it is!

Update.

Now that school has begun, I have to admit...I've been gradually diminishing my updates on both here, and my Tumblr blog. Basically any social network I'm a part of that is real public, I'm not checking in as often.

For anyone who actually reads my blog, from now on I'm shortening up my instagram posts to a week's worth instead of a month. I kept putting off conjuring up the whole collage from a full month, and I instagram a lot. So, a weekly update is easier. And I really will try to update that as often as possible. It might be hard because I'm trying to focus more on school this year, as junior year is the hardest, from what I've heard.

On another note, I haven't built up the whole week's pictures yet. I'm going to a friend's debut tomorrow, and I count Mondays as being the beginning of weeks. Just bare with me and I will do my best to post up a new instagram post on Monday.

Also, I'm heading to the L.A. County Fair with Orchid on Monday. I'll do my best to do an OOTD post there. So for now, toodaloo!

OOTD/OOTN | I'll smile when you speak

Top: Kohl's
Shorts: F21
Loafers: F21
Necklace: Flea Market

Went out to dinner with family again (July 9, 2012). We went to Pinnacle Peak's Steakhouse that was about half an hour or so away, which is farther than what the whole family's used to driving for dinner. We celebrated my aunt, my cousin, and my uncle's birthday(s). I was tempted to put more makeup on and even wear pants instead. But I realized that 1) it's too hot to wear pants 2) it's only family and 3) the place is super casual. If you expect to eat there dressed up all fancy, at least don't wear a tie. They'll cut off your tie and pin it up for everyone to see. Don't believe me? Check Yelp.

And for this post, I just have to show you this song. I heard it on Pandora and ever since it's been stuck in my head like glue. Latest earworm, anyone?

Haul | Makeup at the Flea Market

Maybelline, Revlon, L'oreal, and Wet n Wild lipsticks | Gold choker necklace | hair ties | $1 hair bows

Went to the swap meet with one of my best friends this morning. It's the longest I've ever stayed, and I didn't even spend all my money, like usual. Which is both a good thing and a bad thing, haha. I'm happy because I got three specific lipsticks I've been on the hunt for, for waaaaay cheaper. Yay for bargain shopping!

And for today's song, it's time for some Bon Iver. Don't really know why I like this song so much.

OOTN | Dinner at Chili's

Top: F21
Skirt: F21
Boots: Kohl's
Headwrap: F21

Dang, I need to branch out and piece more outfits from different locations rather than just one store. If it helps, I got these items all at different times, and thought they looked cool. I haven't worn this skirt in a while and I figured going out to dinner would be the perfect opportunity. I paired it with a crop top, and boots to give it a more casual feel. Added a headwrap as my accessory. I styled my hair with subtle waves, and I'm loving the top image because I think my hair actually is getting longer. Yaaaaaay (:

Well, enjoy your day. Here's a nice tune, give it a listen.

Past instagrams for the month of April. I'm pretty addicted to this iPhone app, even though I don't have an iPhone.

The song included in this post has been my go-to wake up and energizing song for this past month of April. All I wanna do is headbang, jump, and dance around whenever I hear this song.

Haul & Quick LookBook | Thrifting

Dress: $6.98
Cardigan: $4.98
Sweatshirt: $1.98

Last weekend, one of my best friends, Giselle, my dad, and I headed to a thrift store downtown that I used to visit every Saturday with my dad and my aunt. Every Saturday morning from the hours of 9-12pm, they offer an additional 30% off the entire purchase. We only had about an hour and a half to spend and the both of us left with a maximum of three items. The prices I listed are the original prices before the additional discount.

My favorite find was the sweatshirt. I mean, two bucks for a comfy sweater?! HELL YES. And that doesn't even include the discount. It was a size smaller than my usual, and it smells nice fresh out of the laundry. Love love love. It'd be perfect to wear today...You know, if it wasn't raining.

Haul | A Day at the Flea Market

I have no idea what these are called, but I get 'em every time! Love.

In honor of Valentine's Day ahaha

This morning, I woke up uber early in hopes of going to the Rose Bowl Flea Market with my cousin. Unfortunately, the sun wasn't shining through the windows as I'd hoped. I went downstairs, snuggled my pup, and fell back asleep on the couch. I'd already heard about Whitney Houston's unfortunate death, but I woke up to the constant news and sad stories. Anyways, I spent the next hour doing homework and drinking coffee and moping because it was such a gloomy day. Then the sun came out. I let my cousin know, and we spontaneously decided to go out to the swap meet and watched The Vow! Cute movie. I recommend it if you're into that chick flick stuff, or if you like a good ol' tearjerker.

New year, new beginnings

It's the new year and I haven't done much. I don't really know what my resolutions are. I don't like making resolutions just because in the end I never pull through anyways. But for now they consist of: taking care of my face more, be more on time, and probably more that I can't think of at the moment.

The past year has been filled with blessings for me: I got a puppy, a house, went to the fair/saw OneRepublic in concert, turned the ever-changing age of sixteen, and went to Canada and Seattle, WA.

All I can hope is that this year is either just as fruitful, or more blessed than the last. Cheers to the new year.
